Dh2300 - Enquiries - 01-04-2026 I am just trying to figure out a good solution to get off iCloud for family storage of photos between my wife and mine phone. Is it reliable? Is it auto uploading once set up? Can I separate out what my phone uploaded from what my wife’s phone uploads? If I delete a photo on my phone will it also delete from the nas? RE: Dh2300 - ed - 01-04-2026 For simple family photo storage and automatic backups from two phones, the DH2300 can work, but there are a few things you should be aware of before you rely on it. Is it reliable? It’s fine for light home use, but UGREEN is still new in the NAS market. Their software is improving but not as mature as Synology or QNAP. If your main goal is long term photo safety, a Synology DS224 Plus or DS225 Plus would be more worry free. Does it auto upload photos? Yes. Once the UGREEN app is installed on each phone, it can automatically back up photos in the background, similar to iCloud. Can you separate your photos from your wife’s? Yes. Each phone should use its own user account on the NAS. Each account uploads into its own private folder, so your libraries do not mix unless you choose to share. If you delete a photo on your phone, does it delete from the NAS? By default, no. The NAS keeps its own copy. You can enable two way sync, but I strongly recommend keeping it one way backup only, so accidental deletions on your phone do not remove the backup. For your storage size (2 to 4TB) Almost any 2 drive NAS is enough. If you want something very stable and easy, Synology still beats UGREEN for family photo backup because of their mobile Photo app and simple sharing. If you want the simplest setup: • DH2300 works • but Synology DS225 Plus is the most reliable long term choice |
