Goedendag, ik overweeg de DS1525+ aan te schaffen. Maar ben ik beperkt tot Synology schijven of kan met de komst van DSM7.3 ook bijvoorbeeld Toshiba N300 schijf gebruiken?
Hello, I'm considering purchasing the DS1525+. But am I limited to Synology drives, or can I also use a Toshiba N300 drive, for example, with the release of DSM 7.3?

Good news. The DS1525 Plus does not require Synology branded drives. Models in the Plus series still fully support third party HDDs like Toshiba N300, WD Red Plus and Seagate IronWolf.
With DSM 7.3 nothing has changed for this model. You may see a small warning when using non Synology drives, but everything works normally including SHR, RAID creation, SMART tests and firmware updates.
For your setup with 2 x 8 TB, the Toshiba N300 drives are an excellent choice. They run cool, are reliable and are well suited for NAS use.
