For the DS925 Plus the best upgrade is a single 16GB DDR4 SODIMM. The system supports up to 32GB, but 16GB is already more than enough for photo management, indexing, AI tagging, and smoother overall DSM performance.

The most commonly used and stable options are:

• Crucial 16GB DDR4 3200 SODIMM
• Kingston 16GB DDR4 3200 SODIMM

Both work well even though Synology only lists their own modules officially.

You can leave the original 4GB in place and add the 16GB stick beside it. DSM will show the full 20GB and everything will feel much more responsive during photo tasks.
