NAS advice - Enquiries - 08-16-2025 Hi dear, I kindly want to ask for an advice, having had a terrible experience with the QNAP TR-004, and good experience with TS-431P2, with same 4 x 3 TB Toshiba N300, I just needed more space, and thought about an expansion, bad idea, I would like to buy a new NAS, estetically similar to TS-431P2, and I was looking for a TS-433 (https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0BCQT9YKY/?coliid=I2YY5HT2URE13C&colid=C0GTF066ZNN0&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1) and a TS-453E (https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0B9YPJN7L/?coliid=I2YLT1N9DV0AZ4&colid=C0GTF066ZNN0&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it). The second seems more professional, dble capacity, but it costs too much, is there anything in the middle, QNAP only? Thank you RE: NAS advice - ed - 08-22-2025 Looking at your two options: • The TS-433 is very similar in style to the TS-431P2 and runs on an ARM processor. It’s efficient and quiet, but a bit limited when it comes to features, app support, and performance for business-level tasks. • The TS-453E is much more powerful, with an Intel Celeron CPU, 8GB of RAM, HDMI, and a lot more headroom for things like virtualisation, surveillance, Plex, etc. But yes — it’s quite a jump in price. If you’re looking for something in the middle, still within QNAP’s lineup, I’d strongly recommend the TS-464. It fits nicely between the two: • Still compact and stylish, like the 431/433 • Uses an Intel N5095 CPU (x86), so much better software and app compatibility than ARM • Supports up to 16GB RAM, NVMe SSD cache, and has expansion options • Typically priced around €600–€650, depending on region It’ll work perfectly with your 4×10TB Toshiba N300 drives and gives you plenty of flexibility for business and home use — without going over your €1000 budget. |
