Hello,
I have a ds923+ with 4 seagate ironwolf (3x8 and 1x4). If i were to buy a ds925+, i could migrate (i saw that in your video). My question is; if one drive would break down, could i replace just that one drive with a synology drive and repail the storagepool/volume? Or do i have to replace all drives if just one fails?

Great question — and yes, you’ve got it right from the video! If one drive fails in your Synology storage pool or volume, you only need to replace that single failed drive, not the entire set. Once you swap in a new drive (it can be a Synology drive or a compatible third-party one), the system will start the repair process and rebuild the data on the new disk automatically.
Just make sure you replace the failed drive promptly to keep your data protected. Also, it’s always a good idea to use drives on Synology’s compatibility list for best reliability and smoother rebuilds.
So, no need to replace all drives—just the one that fails—and your NAS will take care of the rest.
