Plex server no longer connecting to my network after QNAP firmware update - Enquiries - 05-09-2025 I have a TVS-h1688x I recently updated its firmware to QuTS hero h5.2.4.3079. Plex server was previously working in home. Then I updated the firmware and am unable to connect to network. MAPed network drives are OK. QFinder is OK Can log into NAS from MAC, Win 10, and Win 11. (MS Edge, Safari, Firefox browsers too ok) Plex will not connect to the home network. Error message states that the server is "currently unavailable" Has anyone else reported this issue? RE: Plex server no longer connecting to my network after QNAP firmware update - ed - 05-09-2025 It sounds like the firmware update may have caused a network-related issue specifically with your Plex server. While QFinder and mapped network drives are working fine, Plex might be experiencing a network or configuration conflict after the update. Here's what I would suggest trying: Restart Plex and NAS: Simple, but sometimes a fresh start helps. Restart both your QNAP NAS and the Plex server to clear any lingering issues from the firmware update. Check Plex Settings: After the firmware update, it's possible that certain settings for Plex might have been reset or misconfigured. Ensure that the Plex service is running correctly on the NAS. You can do this by checking the App Center on the QNAP and verifying Plex’s status. Re-enable Network Services: Go into the Control Panel of your QNAP and verify that the necessary network services for Plex are enabled. This includes checking that the correct IP address and DNS settings are configured. Firewall and Port Forwarding: Sometimes, firmware updates can modify firewall settings or restrict certain ports. Make sure that the required ports for Plex are open: 32400 for Plex. Check the QNAP firewall settings to see if it’s blocking the Plex port or other necessary network communications. Check Plex Network Interface Settings: Ensure that Plex is binding to the correct network interface. Sometimes, updates can cause Plex to lose connection to the default network interface. You can adjust this in the Plex settings under Network. Update Plex Server: Check if there is a newer version of the Plex server that might fix compatibility issues with the latest QTS Hero firmware. Reinstall Plex: If nothing works, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Plex server app from QNAP's App Center. This can sometimes resolve issues caused by configuration or corrupted installations. Check for QNAP Support: If these steps don’t resolve the issue, consider checking QNAP’s community forums or customer support for others who may have experienced similar problems with Plex after updating QuTS Hero. |
