TRAID to RAID 5? - cwendler - 04-19-2025 Is it possible to start with TRAID and at a later date migrate over to RAID 5? I'm currently using two salvaged 6TB's and tomorrow I will be adding two 4TB's. I'm not sure of the health of the two 6TB's (running a SMART test on them right now) so I will probably replace them with two more 4TB's at some point. RE: TRAID to RAID 5? - ed - 04-24-2025 Unfortunately, you cannot directly convert from TRAID to RAID 5 without resetting the array. TRAID is a proprietary RAID-like technology used by QNAP, and unlike traditional RAID types, it doesn't support direct migration to RAID 5 without wiping the data and creating a new RAID configuration. If you decide to move to RAID 5, you’ll need to back up your data, reset the array, and set up RAID 5 from scratch. Make sure to have a solid backup plan before proceeding, as all data on the drives will be erased during the reset process. |
