I have already used a 2.5g ethernet card in the Pci slot and my whole house network is 2.5 gb switches with 10gb backbone between an the 251B is used solely to serve HD music using MinimServer. No other apps are used. Advice would be very welcome...WTomP RE: TS-251B HD Upgrade advice - ed - 03-14-2025 Upgrading to SATA SSDs will definitely improve performance, especially in terms of access times and file transfers. Given your setup with a 2.5GbE network and a 10Gb backbone, SSDs will make the most of that extra bandwidth. However, for serving HD music via MinimServer, you might not notice a huge difference since audio files aren’t very demanding in terms of speed. Here’s what I’d suggest: If your main goal is speed, especially for things like metadata browsing or quick access to large libraries, SSDs will help. If storage size is more important and you don’t mind the current speeds, sticking with larger HDDs might be more cost-effective, especially as SSD prices are still higher per TB. If you're planning future use of other apps or more intensive tasks, SSDs could give you a nice boost. For music streaming only, the difference may be less noticeable. |
