I need a personal / soho nas - Enquiries - 02-04-2025 Hi I use Mac, and as it does not have a intel procesor, it’s not that easy to get a windows server up and running and running it in Azure, becomes expensive very fast I have been looking at tha Asustore pro, but as you mention in your review it’s a mess with the different speed of the nvme so ideally I want to connect via thunderbold 4/5 directly, have a 1 max 2 VM running at the same time and use the wifi so others can share files and use it as my timemachine backup as well RE: I need a personal / soho nas - ed - 02-06-2025 For your setup, it seems like Thunderbolt 4/5 support and VM capability are key requirements. Based on your needs, I would recommend looking into the QNAP TS-74 or TS-88 series, which support Thunderbolt 4/5 upgrades. These models can handle your Thunderbolt connectivity requirements and are powerful enough to run 1-2 VMs without issue. They also provide great options for Time Machine backups and file sharing over Wi-Fi. Regarding the Asustor Pro you mentioned, I understand the concerns with the varying NVMe speeds, so it might be worth considering other brands that offer better consistency in that area. If Thunderbolt 4/5 is a must, QNAP’s 74 and 88 series could be the ideal choice for you. |
