HBS3 Remote sync - Enquiries - 12-15-2024
I have a qnap ts464 in my house and just got a ts262. I placed the 262 in my friends house and want to set up HBS3 to backup my home NAS (the 464) to the ts262. I enabled RTRR and tried using the public IP addres but it would not connect. Any ideas?

Check Port Forwarding on Friend's Router:
Ensure that your friend's router is configured to forward the necessary ports to the TS-262. By default, HBS3 uses ports such as 873 for RTRR (Remote Transfer and Replication) and 443 for HTTPS. If these ports are not forwarded correctly, the connection will fail.
Confirm the Public IP Address:
Verify that the public IP address you’re using for your friend’s network is correct. If your friend’s ISP uses dynamic IPs, the public IP could change, which would break the connection. You can use a dynamic DNS (DDNS) service to make this easier if the IP is frequently changing.
Enable RTRR on TS-262:
Ensure that RTRR is properly enabled on the TS-262 (your friend’s NAS). You can do this by going to Control Panel > Applications > Hybrid Backup Sync > RTRR. If it's not enabled or not properly configured, it will prevent the backup from connecting.
Check the Firewall Settings:
