Backing up my NAS DS1522+ - Enquiries - 11-12-2024 Hi, I have a Synology DS1522+ with a 4TB USB drive plugged into it. The NAS backups up daily to that drive. That 4TB drive has now died and I want to add more drives to the my NAS. This means the 4TB is large enough either. I have 5x 3TB drives left over from Drobo. Is there a Synology NAS that I can plug into the 1522+ and use as a backup. I would also be happy to do it over the network. Thanks for the help. Best wishes Michael RE: Backing up my NAS DS1522+ - BurleyWeber - 11-12-2024 (11-12-2024, 09:35 AM)Enquiries Wrote: Hi, With the 3TB drives you have from Dropbox, you can plug them into your new NAS and use them as backups for your DS1522+. Several drive configuration options can help optimize the capacity and performance of your NAS. Good luck, hope this answer is helpful to you! RE: Backing up my NAS DS1522+ - ed - 11-15-2024 Thanks for reaching out! You have a couple of great options for setting up backups with your DS1522+: Use Any NAS for Network Backup: Your DS1522+ can back up to any NAS over the network using rsync or SMB. This means you’re not limited to Synology and can use any NAS that supports these protocols as a backup destination. Stick with the Synology Ecosystem: If you prefer to keep everything within Synology’s ecosystem for seamless integration, you can pick up a value-series Synology NAS like the DS220j or DS423+. These models are budget-friendly and integrate perfectly with Hyper Backup, making backups easy to set up and manage. Both approaches allow you to make use of your 5x 3TB drives in a RAID configuration for redundancy, ensuring your data is protected. |
