dnla media server - Enquiries - 10-09-2024 Hi, I'm trying to find a nas device that has dnla media server, so I can stream all my movies from the nas to smart tv's in my house. your latest video recommends the Qnap tr-004 which according to qnap if far to old to do this. Do you know if this is the case for many nas devices? as all I want is to store family pics and stream ripped dvd's in my house. Thanks Nick RE: dnla media server - ed - 10-11-2024 Thanks for reaching out! Just to clarify, the QNAP TR-004 is actually a DAS (Direct Attached Storage) device, not a NAS, which is likely why it doesn't have the features you're looking for, like a DLNA media server. A DAS is more for local storage connected directly to a computer, whereas a NAS (Network Attached Storage) is designed for network use and streaming. For your needs—storing family photos and streaming DVDs to smart TVs—any NAS should do the trick. Most NAS devices, including those from QNAP, Synology, and others, come with DLNA support out of the box, which will allow you to stream media across your home network. |
