concern about 20tb noise level - Enquiries - 08-14-2024

I'm planning to buy the Exos 20TB but I'm very afraid from the noise that I read about online. Is it really that loud? Are there are any 3.5" enclosures that reduces the sound emission?
I'm planning to use a single drive, I'm open to max of two.
SSDs are very expensive for me.
What's your advise? Thanks!

The Exos 20TB drives are indeed louder than typical consumer drives, which is something to consider, especially if you’re planning to use it in a quiet space. However, if the drive isn’t located in your bedroom, the noise shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

For reducing the noise further, you can use padding or a sound-dampening enclosure. This can help muffle the operational sounds, making it more manageable even in a living room setting.

If you’re concerned about noise but still want the high capacity, the Exos drive is still a solid choice as long as it's not placed in a bedroom where absolute silence is needed. Just a bit of soundproofing can make a big difference.
