External backup Ez Sync files from Asustor - Enquiries - 08-03-2024

Hi

I recently bought a new ASustor 5404t NAS. i did the Ez Sync between my computer and NAS. now i want to backup my NAS to external NAS but like other shared folders Ezsync folder is not visible to select in Back up and restore.

Also, when i used Readynas i had ready cloud but, i was still able to connect my Samsung Galacy through myfiles. when i tried to configure Asustor it displays SMB2/SMB3 but when i enter credentials it says SM2/3 might not be turned on i check NAS SMB is enabled so not sure.

Thanks

Raghav

You should use the Tailscale VPN to backup from one NAS to another. The Tailscale VPN facilitates a secure and straightforward connection between devices, making it ideal for your NAS-to-NAS backup needs.

Here's how you can proceed with Tailscale VPN:

Install the Tailscale VPN on both your Asustor NAS and the external NAS you wish to backup to.
Configure the Tailscale VPN on both devices to ensure they are on the same network and can communicate securely.
Once set up, you should be able to access the shared folders, including the EZ Sync folder, over the Tailscale VPN.
Proceed with your backup process as you would with any other shared folder.
Samsung Galaxy Connection Issue
Regarding connecting your Samsung Galaxy to the Asustor NAS using SMB2/SMB3, ensure that:

The SMB2/SMB3 protocol is indeed enabled on your NAS, as you mentioned.
Your mobile device is on the same network as your NAS or correctly configured to access it remotely.
Use the correct credentials to connect. Sometimes, resetting your NAS password and reconfiguring your mobile device's connection might resolve the issue.
