Brand/Storage Advice - Enquiries - 07-01-2024 I'm looking for advice on the best system and an appropriate amount of storage. Primarily, I want to store/back up photos and home videos that are on my home (Windows) computer and be able to access them from other devices (Macs/iPads). There are some additional documents I would like to be able to access from multiple computers. Overall, the current files are about 500 Gb. That will probably double over the next ten years. Regarding RAID levels, I am more concerned about data loss than uptime (sorry - my terminology is probably all wrong, I hope I'm getting the point across). So I was thinking along the lines of a 4 bay with large capacity drives and a RAID 10 configuration, accepting the added cost and 'wasted' space as a tradeoff for peace of mind that all of the photos are safe. Budget is not really a huge concern. I'd keep it under $1000 if possible. Thanks RE: Brand/Storage Advice - ed - 07-03-2024 For your needs of storing and backing up photos, home videos, and documents accessible across Windows, Macs, and iPads, the Synology DS423+ stands out as a robust choice.
