Novice: Choosing right NAS model? - Enquiries - 03-20-2024 Hi. Any insight is appreciated. Wanting a NAS option mainly for storing and safe keeping of pictures and home videos. Not using it for plex or anything like that. Would like to be able to upload pics/vids from phone, and remotely (& quickly) view those pics/vids when away from home network. Ideally, we would be able to organize and create albums as needed. Thank you RE: Novice: Choosing right NAS model? - ed - 03-22-2024 The Synology DS224+ is an excellent choice for your needs. It's a 2-bay NAS that offers reliable performance and features for storing and organizing your pictures and home videos. With its Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor and 2 GB of DDR4 non-ECC RAM, it provides sufficient power for smooth operation and multitasking. The DiskStation Manager (DSM) software enables easy file management and remote access, allowing you to upload photos and videos from your phone and view them remotely with ease. With a budget of around $500 USD, the DS224+ fits well and can accommodate your storage requirements with up to 16 TB of total capacity (8 TB per drive). Overall, it's a robust and user-friendly NAS solution that meets your needs for home media storage and organization. |
