Jonsbo N2 compatability with 10 TB WD HGST Ultrastar He10 - Enquiries - 02-18-2024

Hi,

I read through your very detailed documentation regarding the Jonsbo N2 and its setup. However, I still have a question that I can't find an answer to.
I purchased 4x 10 TB WD HGST Ultrastar He10, HUH721010ALE60 drives which I first had problems powering on, as they have the Power Disable feature which puts the drives in a loop (3.3V on pin #3 of the SATA). Now my question is if I can you use the PCB backlane to insert the drives, or wont they work then?

It sounds like you're dealing with some tricky compatibility issues with your WD HGST Ultrastar He10 drives and the Jonsbo N2 setup. The Power Disable feature you mentioned can indeed pose challenges, especially with certain configurations. While I can't guarantee compatibility without testing, using the PCB backplane to insert the drives might not resolve the problem if the issue lies with the power delivery to the drives themselves. However, it's worth a try as sometimes different setups can yield unexpected results. Before proceeding, double-check if there are any firmware updates or alternative power configurations available for your drives that might address this issue. If you continue to encounter difficulties, reaching out to the manufacturer's support or seeking advice from knowledgeable forums could provide additional insights tailored to your specific setup. Good luck, and I hope you find a solution that works for you!
