QNAP RAID Question - Enquiries - 12-26-2023

I have just ordered a QNAP TS-664 and I already have 5 WD Red Pro 8TB drives and I am out of money. I plan to set the 5 drives up in the NAS in RAID-5. In a while when I can purchase a sixth drive and install it can the NAS convert from RAID-5 to RAID-6 on the fly without loosing any data?

Thanks,
Gary

Absolutely, your QNAP TS-664 allows for a seamless transition from RAID-5 to RAID-6 without losing any data. Once you acquire the sixth WD Red Pro 8TB drive, you can easily expand your storage capacity and migrate to RAID-6 directly within the QTS interface. This process is designed to be user-friendly and minimizes downtime, ensuring your data remains intact during the transition.
