Synology NAS MAX HD Sizes.... unofficial - Enquiries - 12-08-2023 Rob, I hope this finds you well. I have an ioSafe 218 NAS that's got 2 10TB HD running as a SHR RAID. If I wanted to upgrade this what's the largest HD Size, you think I could use? Is a 2X 20TB doable, or can I change the SHR RAID to just a RAID 1 and forget about the SHR redundancy, since it's only a Fireproof safety net and if it went down, I would be able to rebuild it rather easily. Bob RE: Synology NAS MAX HD Sizes.... unofficial - ed - 12-12-2023 All good here, thanks! About your ioSafe 218 NAS, upgrading to 2x 20TB is certainly doable. You can go for that size without an issue. Now, if you're thinking of switching from SHR RAID to RAID 1, that's possible too. It simplifies things and, as you said, if it's mainly a fireproof safety net, it makes the rebuild process easier.
