Advice for Date Storage and Camera Storage - Enquiries - 12-04-2023

Hey there!

This is Florian from Cologne, Germany.

My wife and me build a detached house which will be completed in Januar 2024. We got network in every room and outside the building. We will install a video door bell and three IP cameras. We are looking for a NAS for storaging personal data from our personal devices and video surveilllance.

We would be pleased with your help.

Greetings

Congrats on the new house! For your setup with a video doorbell and three IP cameras, I'd recommend either the DS224+ or DS423+ Synology NAS. Both are solid choices with different bay options, but considering your future needs, the DS423+ might be a tad more future-proof with its 4-bay setup. It runs on a quad-core Intel Celeron J4125, has a decent Passmark score of 2982, and features a transcoding engine. This should handle your personal data storage and video surveillance needs smoothly. If you plan on expanding in the future, having those extra bays could come in handy. You can check them out in more detail here to make the best choice for your home setup.

Happy NAS hunting!
