I need help how to setup mixed SSD/HDD NAS and direct connection of mt MacBook Pro laptop and my home PC to NAS for photo and personal file storage and editing. what else do I need?
To make the most of your Synology DS1522+ setup, it's essential to create separate RAID arrays for your SATA SSDs, HDDs, and NVMe SSD. This way, you can optimize performance and storage space efficiently. You'll need to configure three separate RAID volumes, one for each type of drive, to fully utilize the capabilities of your NAS.

Additionally, if you plan to connect your MacBook Pro and home PC directly to your NAS for photo and personal file storage and editing, you'll need to set up manual IP addresses on both the NAS and your computer. This approach ensures a direct and stable connection. For a detailed guide on how to do this, you can refer to this resource: How to Connect Synology DiskStation NAS Directly to a PC or Mac.

By following these steps, you'll have a well-structured and high-performance NAS system that caters to your storage and editing needs. It's a robust foundation for your current requirements and allows for scalability should your needs evolve in the future. Enjoy your NAS setup!
