Hi i have just purchased a Terra-master F4 423 after watching your terramaster series of videos it will be primarily used for plex and general file storage and sharing on my network plex will be running on 4 off 4Tb hdd and file sharing / storage from the m.2 slots i have also upgraded the ram so i have around 24 Gb
My question to you is should i stick with the original Tos 5 or will i get better performance by installing truenas core as for applications im not planning on using many apart from some sort of backup solution to maybe the cloud
Kind regards
Kev..
Ps i am a real noob to the world of Nas and only recently discovered your channel and find your videos very informative and im learning all sort of bits about Nas’
Thanks in advance
Consider TOS (TerraMaster OS) for its lightweight and potentially faster performance. TerraMaster designs TOS to work efficiently with their NAS devices, which can lead to smoother and more responsive operation. If your primary use case is Plex and general file storage, TOS should serve your needs well without unnecessary resource overhead.

Remember that your NAS should cater to your specific requirements, and TOS can be a great choice, especially for those who prefer a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. As your needs evolve or you become more experienced with NAS systems, you can always explore more advanced options like TrueNAS Core.
