Hi follow your work for years and love it thank you. I currently have a Synology DS718+ and it works fine but won't play 2160 video's via Plex. I am now looking at using Jellyfin as that will play that rate video but still to work out how to view remotely. My question is though should I update to a better Synology or should I possibly look at building my own unit to serve my media better? it's confusing and not sure what direction to go if you could help please. thank you Smile
Thank you for following our work, we truly appreciate it! To address your need for streaming 2160 videos remotely, you will require a NAS with a minimum Intel i5 CPU or a dedicated PCI GPU card. An excellent choice for this purpose would be the QNAP TVS-674 NAS or a higher-end model. This NAS will provide you with the necessary hardware power to stream 2160 videos smoothly to remote devices.

Alternatively, if you prefer to stick with your current Synology DS718+, you can still achieve remote streaming by converting your existing videos to 720p resolution. This way, you can keep the original high-resolution files for local streaming and have more manageable files for remote viewing.
