Hello,

I am looking to replace my 8 year old QNAP NAS (TS-253A with 2 3TB disks in RAID1 and 2x4GB of RAM).
It sits behind the TV in the leaving room. My main uses are Plex and docker (portainer / pihole / wireguard).
Disks are at almost full capacity since a few months and docker could use more RAM.
I kept it mostly offline for security reasons (ports blocked), tho I would love to be able to read my multimedia files when I am out of home.

So today I am contemplating these 3 options:

A. QNAP TS-464-4G , +32 GB of RAM, + 2x12TB disks (WD Red Plus) and install TrueNAS Scale for peace of mind
B. Asustor lockerstor 4 gen 2, +32 GB of RAM, + 2x12TB disks (WD Red Plus) and keep the default OS
C. Asustor Flashstor 6, +32 GB of RAM and 2x4TB of NVMe (Crucial P3 Plus) and keep the default OSĀ

Option C seems best for the silent and power consumption but will it be equally powerful as the first 2 options?

Cheers
The A and C options is the most powerful. But generally, in a home use, you may not notice a difference between A and B.
Having NVMe or even SATA SSD inside the NAS will make it much faster in every way.
Qnap OS is probably more secure compared to Asustor. If you need safe remote access simply use Tailscale VPN, this do not require port opening.
