i have a drobo 4 bay DAS. I need a new DAS for my plex media. I loved the drobo software that enabled the different disk size and ability of adding a bigger drive later on. Is there any DAS either 4 or 5 bay that you would recommend that could do something like that. If not what would you suggest as an alternative option then.

There is no other DAS out there like this. But if you switch to a NAS then Synology, Asustor and Termaster allow drive mixing.
Synology is the leader of all these brands. Try DS423+ which is also multimedia-friendly option.
