Hi I am an owner of old Synology DS412+ and I was looking at the DS1621+ for an upgrade.
The point is I was considering the released dates of the DS1621+ and wondering when this will be discontinued. I would like to avoid to buy it and then find it goes out of production.
I am using the NAS for digital storage, PC backup, but I was considering to have in future a couple of virtual machines for my programming experience with Java.
Do you have an idea when the successor of the DS1621+ might come out?
DS1621+ was released in 2020 and is currently a flagship model in the Synology Plus series, so it is unlikely to be discontinued anytime soon. Synology typically releases new models every few years, but it is difficult to predict when a successor to the DS1621+ will be released.

That being said, the DS1621+ is a powerful NAS that should meet your needs for digital storage, PC backup, and even running a couple of virtual machines. It features a 4-core AMD Ryzen processor, up to 32 GB of RAM, and a maximum storage capacity of 16 bays with expansion units.
