Hello. I would like some advice about NAS.
I want to use it at home mainly for Photo and Video Backup. I also have a lot of movies in digital format. Now I don't want to break the bank but I want a server that is quiet, secure, fast and remotely accessible. I would start with 8 TB and expand it in the future. I have seen WD, Synology and Qnap are the leading Brands but I cannot decide which is better.
Thanks for your help!!
WD seems to be the most secure NAS, simply because they keep their functionality very limited and do not allow admin access from outside the local network. WD can seamlessly back up photos and videos, and they are easy to access via the mobile app or Plex app. The WD Ultra ext is a budget option that does the job, but the PR series with a Pentium inside is more future-proof.

Synology Celeron-based models, such as the DS220+ and DS720+, come with more apps compared to WD. You can also use them as a Dropbox alternative and have extra features like face and geo recognition.
