I haven't had a NAS before. I would like to connect up to 4 IP cameras to it as well as using it as a media server and backing up PCs/tablets/phones etc.and have been looking at the DS220+.
I would like to know if it is meaty enough to be able to cope with the load or will I have to up my budget?
Hope I'm not wasting your time.
Thank you

The Synology DS220+ is a capable network-attached storage (NAS) device that can handle the tasks you described, including serving as a media server and backing up multiple devices. It is powered by an Intel Celeron J4025 dual-core processor and has 2GB of DDR4 memory, which should be sufficient for most small to medium-sized businesses or home users.

In terms of connecting IP cameras, the DS220+ can support up to 2 cameras using the Surveillance Station app, which allows you to view and manage your camera feeds from a single interface. If you need to connect more than 2 cameras, you can consider purchasing an additional license or using a different application to manage your camera feeds.

Overall, the DS220+ should be able to handle the workload you described without any issues. If you have very demanding requirements or need to support a larger number of cameras, you may want to consider a more powerful NAS device with a faster processor and more memory.
