Hi, have recently purchased a Samsung 980 Pro SSD with heatsink, primarly because it was reduced to less than £100 at Argos. After having installed it in my PS5 everything is running fine, however, I am not thrilled at having to refit the OEM coverplate although I have done so.
My questions are, do any retailers sell alternative coverplates i.e. something similar to those supplied by Ineo or Graugear with their respective PS5 SSD heatsinks? Secondly how much benefit, if any, in terms of heat loss or cooling would the fitting of these types of coverplate give?
Thanks in advance.
It is possible that some retailers may sell alternative cover plates for the Samsung 980 Pro SSD with heatsink, but it may be difficult to find one that is specifically designed to fit the PS5. You might be able to find a third-party cover plate that is compatible with the SSD and fits the dimensions of the PS5, but it is important to make sure that it will not interfere with any of the internal components or cause any damage to the console.

As for the benefits of using a cover plate, it can help to improve the overall appearance of the console by covering up the bare SSD and heatsink. It may also help to protect the SSD and heatsink from dust and other contaminants that can accumulate inside the console. In terms of heat loss or cooling, a cover plate is not likely to have a significant effect. The main factor in cooling the SSD and the rest of the console is the effectiveness of the internal cooling system and the airflow within the console.
