Good Day to you,

I am very new to the NAS world, but on looking around came across your channel and love it. I am subscribed.

I will be mainly a plex pass user on mac.

Looking at your reviews, I have been looking at the
Synology DS920+
Synology DS923+
Synology DS1522
Qnap Ts-464
What do you think is the best way to go, or is there another NAS I should be looking at. I can pick up the Qnap TS-464 for £490

What would be the best make of HDD been looking at the Seagate iron wolf

Thanks for all the great reviews and your advice
The Synology DS920+ and DS923+ are both good NAS devices that would be well-suited for a home file server and photo server. Both models offer good performance and a range of features that would be useful for your purposes, including support for Docker and the ability to host game servers.

In terms of which model to choose, the DS923+ offers a few additional features that may be useful for you, such as the ability to use Nvme volume for storage, and support for 10 Gigabit Ethernet. However, the DS920+ may be a more cost-effective option if these features are not essential for your needs. DS920+ and ts-464 also can do video transcoding in 4K, unlike the other NAS.

As for the hard drive options, both the Seagate Ironwolf and WD Red drives are good choices for use in a NAS. The Ironwolf drives are designed specifically for use in network-attached storage and offer good performance and reliability. The WD Red drives are also a good choice for use in a NAS and are available in a wider range of capacities.
