Hello
I am a computer hobbyist, I already have a Synology DS716+II dual bay NAS. I have all my family pictures and important documents, all my installed apps etc. etc. -basically EVERYTHING on it. It is 10TB but almost full. I am a bit paranoid about backing it up in case something happens to the NAS itself. I am not sure if a 4 or 5 bay NAS would be the answer. I was told that the 5 bay will give me better protection as well as more memory. I would also like to stream videos off the NAS in the future.
Can you please recommend a model for me?
I appreciate your reply.
Thank you
If you only stream videos on your local network, you could go fo DS1522+. Remote streaming with Ryzen CPU inside is limited to 1080p videos.
If you can still find ds920+/ ds1520+, you could stream up to 4k remotely.
Choosing 4 bay vs 5 is a popular question. Having more RAM do not mean better performance. But this extra bay can be used for a future storage space upgrade.
DS923+ is something for a small video editor company. It allows 10gbe and NVMe storage pool.

I hope this helps.
