Full Version: Still-253d caching with ssd as storage

Hi,
I’m upgrading from a q a ts-251 to ts-253d.
I have been using 2x2tb ssd and will use some new ones in the new NAS.
I have a spare 240gb ssd which I wonder can I use for caching?
I largely use the NAS as a Plex server, so I guess the data would be slower initially as it caches and then not used again so the cache would be of no use?
The problem I’m trying to solve, is can I make use of this smaller ssd to boost performance?
Or am I better off setting up the 2x2tb ssd in a particular way to get the best performance?
Many thanks
Ian.
Yes, Plex is too random to actually benefit from SSD cache. I would rather set them up in RAID1 and install OS and all apps on this volume. The second RAID can be HDDs with all media on them. This will perform much better.

I hope this helps.
