Hi,

I stumbled upon your website and it has been extremely helpful!

I'm looking at buying a NAS primarily as a media server, but also for data backup (files & photos).

With some help from your website, I've narrowed my choice down to the Synology DS920+ and the QNAP TVS-472XT.

Which would you recommend?

Many thanks

Michael
If you have a Thunderbolt port on your computer or if you have a 10GbE network then Qnap XT series NAS is a very good choice. If you will use Synology app such as Video station/ DS Video then DS920+ could easily cope even with 4K transcoding. But if you prefer Plex then Qnap will do a better job.Synology is also a better backup solution for Windows including image backups and dropbox like fold sync.I hope this helps.
