I´m looking for a Synology NAD with two bays capable to transcode HD video as a Plex server. I saw mixed reviews on the DS220j and DS220+ series. Any advice is appreciated.

Funny enough DS220j actually managed to transcode some HD videos in our tests, but I would not have much of the hopes on this model. Synology J series are made for simple backup and file storage only. Things you can do with it are very limited.DS220+ comes with a free RAM slot. This allows you to add some more memory. With a Plex server running this might be something to consider especially if there are other things running in the background. It also come with a graphics chip capable of transcoding 1080p in Plex and 4K in DS Video app. I hope this helps.
