Hi,
Thank you in advance for your help. Below I'm going to list some bullet point facts to her clarify my situation.

- I currently have an iMac with 7TB of data on a 10TB drive. List consists of all kinds of data, video's photos, documents etc.

- I need to find a solution as my iMac is old and its going to die soon.

- I use apple family share to stream video's to my TV through an apple TV. This is an important feature

- We are a family of 5 all with apple MacBooks

- We all have iPhones, we would like to backup the iPhones to the NAS automatically if possible.

- I'm a backup freak. I do have a code 42 plan but I never want to rely just on that, so a mirror would be nice.

- Being able to access our NAS from outside would be nice but security would be a big concern

So I'm probably looking at some sort of NAS devise but am very open to suggestions

Many Thanks for your help

Steve
Yes, having a NAS will sort these problems. You will have several hard drive copying bits of each other to keep the data safe in case one or more drives fail. You will be able to access it locally as well a remotely. I would recommend Synology because it is easier to set up and use. Less configuration required.Synology also makes very good mobile apps simplifying the backup process and data access.DS220+/ DS420+ would be my choice.I hope this helps.
