Hi,

Getting close to running out of capacity on my Asustor NAS, I decided to upgrade my 3× Ironwolf 10TB to 3× WD Red 22TB drives. I have swapped them all out and synchronised and now am at the stage of "Expand Capacity".

My question is, what is best; multiple volumes or one large single volume?

Current volume 18TB, 16TB used. I am aware that volume size can't be reduced once expanded. I am also not sure what happens when I click esxpand capacity, whether i get the option to chose volume size, or it is grabs everything remaining.

Advice would be appreciated.

When you click on "Expand Capacity," it typically extends the existing volume to use all the available space. If you prefer having multiple smaller volumes to better organize your data, create them before expanding capacity to make sure your new drives are utilized as intended.
