Discussing everything in networking, with nothing off limits. Got a problem with 1Gbe, 2.5Gbe, 5Gbe or 10Gbe that needs a hand? Perhaps your NAS drive just 'fell' off the network. Head here for assistance.
I have a DS920+ with a Netgear GS108 v3 connected to the Lan2 Port - I am trying to run 2 x Reolink RLC-423-5MP and 1 x RLC-520 but neither camera connects - I am powering the cameras with 12v PSU's - Without 12v power, neither camera shows any infra-red response - If I connect the camera (powered) directly via RJ45 there is no difference - When an RJ45 is connected, the Network Status shows: 100Mbps, Full duplex, MTU 1500 - I have a Synology Router attached to LAN1. - Do I need to uprgade the switch, move the switch or something else? - Cheers Richard
Well this not acctually a question but rather a helpul tip for you guys out there trying to fix the speeds of your new 10Gbs network with Synology. I tried everything but never got over 2-3gbs (220/400 Mb/s).
But at last i found a little setting hidden for changing to SMB3. And viola! I now get speeds of write 400mb/s read 800mb/s. Where it should be regarding to my hardware.
So please see attached image where you can fix this setting.
You´re welcome!
I would like to add a network switch to my SMB system. My system starts with a Ubiquiti Amplifi router, then a QNAP T453BE, 2-3 Apple computers, 1 Windows computer, laser printer, 3-d printer, a number of computer connected USB devices (ScanSnap, CZUR scanner, drives that haven't made it to convergence with the NAS, etc), camera to be added eventually. The network lives in my small office, 3 desks and maybe 18 x 20 feet. Noise is an issue. So far I have been connecting through the router with cat 5 cables. But we outgrew that this week. Any QNAP Switch Recommendations? I've watched the NAS compares videos but they pretty much told me that there is a bigger world out there than I know how to deal with.
Hi i watch your videos and i have learnt a lot thanks to you

Seek to connect my QNAP TS-870 with dual port 10 GBE RJ45 to my 2 PCs running Intel 10 GbE RJ45 NICS. my previous Netgear 10 GbE switch was water damaged and need a replacement.
Any suggestions?
No PoE required but sfp+ required for uplink connectivity to my Unifi UDM Pro. small setup no need for anything over 4 to 8 10 GbE RJ45 ports
I want to add IP cameras to my older Synology DS1511+. I am confused about where the POE switch should go in the wired setup.
My system background:
Modem to Router
Router to unmanaged switch to other devices like Apple TV, etc...
Router to Synology
Where in the lineup is the best location for POE switch?
Directly to Router?
Directly to Unmanaged Switch?
Directly to the second port on the back of Synology NAS?
Hi!
I'm trying to figure out a storage solution that would be easily accessible no matter where I'm located. It makes sense to go for a NAS, but I'm interested if a DAS with a good router could be an option. I'm very interested in having a wireless connection at home that would be capable of editing 4k video straight off of wifi. I'm hoping maybe wifi 6 could work here? I really just started searching for information and there's a lot of factors and limitations that I don't understand yet. That's the reason why I'm writing.
Thinking about if pairing Terramaster D5 with Asus rt-ax89x router could work to achieve this?
Best wishes,
Jonas
Hi, bought the qnap TVS 472 XT thanks for the great videos on this.

Hi, I'm setting up my Asustor NAS and have no idea on how best to setup the ADM Defender in settings. I want it for 2 pc's home at the moment but may well need it for mobile phone access later. Win 10/android. i have several IP's showing the main provider, DNS and LAN IP's? Thanks
